Panel Wiring

Populate the PCB with all components before starting. (Download-Instructions)
The wiring up of the external components (pots, switches and jack sockets) is the most difficult part of the project.
it is best to first prepare your case - drilling holes for the components, add markings and decoration etc then firmly fix all components in place. i use a bimbox m6006 desktop console case from
maplins.co.uk (part no LH66W.

The connections shown in ORANGE in the diagram to the left are connections between external components and Bell Wire (solid-core) can be used (i finds its easier). For all the component to PCB connections (market with the Corresponding letter code) the more flexible equipment wire should be used. The 3 digit letter code refers to the connection points on the PCB.

Before wiring decide were you are going to place the PCB
(i find its best near the battery draw). You can now cut the lengths of equipment wire needed for each board to panel connection.  Keep your wiring neat - bunch wires near each other into groups of 3-5 wires (use a different colour for each wire) and tie or twist them together and secure to the panel with sticky tape.

Remember you may need to trouble shoot your project if it does’t work properly so allow a little slack for moving the board to make corrections and checks etc.

Its a good idea to use heat shrink over the wires connecting to panel components as it insulates the connections against accidentally touching and and strengthens the connection

When soldering to the switches and jack sockets DON’T hold the iron on the pins for more than 2 seconds if the solder doesn't’t bond let the part cool down then try again excessive heat with damage the switch especially the black plastic base switches.

It measures (H-166mm W141mm) and fits the front panel or the maplin case.
